The EU Flight Emissions Label (FEL) aims to boost consumer confidence and facilitate cross-border trade, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. It enables passengers to make informed choices when booking flights to help reduce aviation’s environmental impacts. EU surveys have concluded that the modern passenger is not aware of their environmental impact from air travel but are keen to know more.

The FEL will be based on trusted, harmonised and reliable data presented in an easily understandable format on the impacts of aviation by establishing clear boundaries for green claims. The legislation aims to protect consumers from greenwashing and enable them to make informed purchasing decisions based on credible environmental claims.
